Hi, I’m amanda

With over 30 years’ experience as a midwife, I’ve supported more than 3,000 births and cared for over 30,000 families. I’ve worked across home births, hospitals, and birth centres; supported multiples and premature babies; helped families with mixed and exclusive feeding; and cared for women with complex health needs and mental health challenges. Every family, every journey has been unique — and that’s exactly why I love this work.

For me, midwifery isn’t about following a rigid rulebook. It’s about creating a safe, supportive space where you can explore what feels right for you and your family. I’ll listen, guide, and bring my experience to the table — but you remain the expert on your body, your baby, and your rhythms. My role is to help you feel confident and heard, so you can trust your own instincts.

I stay up to date with the latest research, but I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all model. Evidence matters, but how it applies to you matters even more. Together, we’ll use that knowledge in a way that fits your values, your circumstances, and your family.

I also know firsthand how transformative becoming a parent can be — because I’m a mum too. That perspective helps me understand that the early days are not always easy or straightforward. They can be joyful, emotional, messy, and overwhelming all at once. My job is to walk alongside you through it all, offering care that feels personal, compassionate, and empowering.

My Approach

Parenthood isn’t always sunshine and roses. The early days can be beautiful, but they can also stir up hidden traumas, unexpected emotions, and tricky moments you never saw coming. It’s a time of huge change — but also an incredible opportunity to discover more about yourself, your resilience, and what it means to be human.

your instincts,
my experience

For me, midwifery is about holding space for those feelings — all of them — and helping you grow into your role as a parent, partner, or family unit.

I bring over 30 years of experience, but I’m not the expert on you.

Your instincts, your experience, and your family’s rhythms are what matter most.

My role is to make sure everyone involved feels safe, supported, and heard.

care built around you

The NHS can provide fantastic care, but it’s necessarily a “one size fits all” service because the task is so huge.

Not everyone gets a fantastic service.

Antenatal appointments are often short, fixed in time, and focused on tasks and checklists. There’s rarely room to explore things at your own pace

That’s where I come in. I’ll give you and your family the space to ask questions, explore your thoughts, and make choices that fit you — not a generic care plan.
